Tracy helps agencies reduce small client-edit work by letting them build and update WordPress, Joomla and EmDash sites through natural-language requests, and import existing WordPress and Joomla sites.
Most agency time on existing clients does not go into big projects. It goes into small requests: change the phone number, add this week’s news, fix the menu on mobile. Each one is quick on its own, and slow when you multiply it by every site you look after. Tracy turns each of those requests into one sentence, keeps a record of supported changes on each client site, and offers recovery options when a client changes their mind, subject to action and platform limits.
How do I bring my clients’ existing sites into Tracy?
Use Add site, then Import existing site. Tracy asks which platform the site runs on (WordPress or Joomla) and its address, then needs a way to read the site. You choose one of two ways:
- Give Tracy admin access. Use normal admin credentials with installation rights, including Joomla Super User level rights. Extra HTTP Basic credentials can be supplied for sign-in and installation, but WordPress whole-site Basic authentication can still block export. Tracy does not store the admin password; it retains the connector token.
- Install it yourself. Download, install and activate Claude Cowork on the original site. Paste Token from WordPress Settings > Claude Cowork, or Access token from Joomla Components > Tracy Claude Cowork, into Tracy. If an import fails, Import a site covers each message and its fix.
Tracy then copies the site’s content and packs up its files. The result is a copy for you to edit: Tracy works on its own copy, not on the site the client’s visitors use today. When the copy is ready, the agent starts and you can begin asking for changes.
A few things agencies ask about imports:
- One site per import. Each import copies one source site. If an import of the same site is already running, follow it instead of starting another.
- Very large sites. If a site is larger than one import can carry, Tracy stops and says so rather than importing half of it.
- Accounts without full access. Use an administrator account. If the account cannot open the admin area, Tracy tells you before it goes further.
- Two-factor sign-in. If the admin account asks for a second factor, Tracy cannot answer it. Use the other way and install Claude Cowork yourself.
- Sites that block plugin installs. If installation is disabled, ask your hosting provider or developer to install Claude Cowork. Once it is active and reachable, choose I will install it myself in Tracy and paste its token. Manual mode bypasses automated sign-in, not server installation restrictions.
- Sites already on Tracy. Open a site already available to your account from My Sites. If another Tracy account holds the address, request access when a join link is offered or contact support.
For new clients you can also start fresh: Create a new site builds a first version from a ready-made design, with the client’s business name, their words and the pages they chose, hosted by Tracy at a Tracy address. It is a quick way to have something concrete to show in a first meeting.
How does Tracy reduce small edit requests?
By turning each request into a sentence you type in the client’s site workspace, in your own language:
- “Replace the phone number in the header and footer with 030 1234 5678.”
- “Add this news item to the homepage, with the photo I uploaded.”
- “On mobile, the menu covers the logo. Fix it.”
- “Rename the Services page to What we do, and update the menu.”
Tracy reads the site before it acts, so it works with the client’s actual template, pages and extensions. It makes the change, records it, and you check the result on the site. You do not need to remember where each template keeps its module positions or which override controls the footer.
Tracy works on one site at a time: you open a client’s site from My Sites and ask for changes there. My Sites lists every site you hold a seat on, with the role you hold on each.
How do I give a client access to their own site?
Each site in Tracy has its own team. From the site’s Team tab, an Owner or Editor can invite a member as an Editor or Viewer. Owners can make members Owners after they join:
| Role | What it covers |
|---|---|
| Owner | Everything an Editor does, plus managing people and domains, making owners and deleting the site |
| Editor | Edits the site’s content: articles, products, media; changes code and settings; publishes, restores backups and invites Editors or Viewers |
| Viewer | Views, comments and asks questions without editing the site |
Choose Editor for clients who need to change their site, or Viewer for clients who only need to view, comment and ask questions. An Editor can ask Tracy for content changes on their own site, and can also change templates, extensions and settings, publish, restore backups and invite Editors or Viewers. Access is per site: a client invited to one site does not see your other clients’ sites. Owners can change a role, re-invite someone or cancel an invitation from the same list.
The person who creates or imports a site is its first Owner.
How do I see what changed on each client site?
Every site has its own history in Tracy:
- Site changes lists every recorded change with its source and who made it when available: requests in the chat or in comments, edits in the CMS admin, and changes the site makes on its own. On WordPress and Joomla, recorded file changes open in a Diff so you can read the exact lines that moved. EmDash has no file history, and its CMS admin log covers page and post edits, not menus, settings or media.
- Edits in the CMS admin are listed too, with the admin user who made them. That matters when more than one person or tool touches a client site.
- Backups keep restore points of the whole site, files and database on WordPress and Joomla, or database and media on EmDash, excluding template code. When you create a backup, Tracy drafts notes from the recorded changes since the previous one, which gives you a ready starting point for a client update or an invoice note.
Recorded content Tracy writes is listed under the request that wrote it. To ask Tracy to change it back, choose Ask Tracy to revert on that row; the See what Tracy changed explains how.
If a client does not like a change, you can undo its file changes where supported, ask Tracy to revert it, or restore an earlier backup, subject to action and platform limits. See Undo and backups.
Which platforms can an agency use Tracy on?
Tracy supports WordPress, Joomla and EmDash. It can build new sites on all three and import copies of existing WordPress and Joomla sites. Shopify is not supported yet, and custom-coded web applications without an admin panel are outside Tracy’s scope. For Joomla-heavy agencies, the Tracy for Joomla covers templates, versions and the Joomla admin in more detail.
When should an agency still use a developer?
Tracy handles the everyday layer of a client site. Keep a developer, or do it yourself as one, when the work is:
- Custom code. New extensions, custom integrations with other systems, or changes you need to put through your own code review.
- Server and hosting problems. Email delivery, two-factor lockouts and database errors are outside what Tracy does today.
- Major version upgrades. Tracy does not offer a Joomla 3 upgrade path.
- Audits. Performance tuning and security audits need dedicated tools and a person accountable for the result.
- Anything a client must sign off first. Tracy applies ordinary requests directly and you review afterwards. Tracy asks for targeted confirmation before consequential actions. If a change needs sign-off before it happens, agree it with the client first, then ask Tracy.
Tracy does not make mistakes impossible. It makes recorded changes visible and provides recovery options subject to action and platform limits, which helps an agency hand small edits to AI without losing track of each client site.
Frequently asked questions
Does Tracy edit my client’s live site when I import it?Your team edits a separate copy in Tracy, and the original continues serving visitors. The original still needs Claude Cowork installed and active, which automatic import can set up before reading its token.
Can a client break the site if I invite them?Invite clients as Editors if they need to change content, such as articles and media, as well as templates, extensions and settings, publish and restore backups. Use Viewer for clients who only need to view, comment and ask questions without editing. Recorded changes are listed in Site changes, and you can undo a change where supported or restore a backup, subject to action and platform limits.
Is Tracy priced per site or per user?Pricing after the beta is not set yet. During the beta, Tracy is free to use, and nothing switches to paid automatically. Share feedback in the Tracy Discord: Tracy Discord. See Pricing.
Can I use Tracy for WordPress and Joomla clients at the same time?Yes. Each site is its own workspace, so an agency can have WordPress, Joomla and EmDash sites side by side in My Sites.
