What is Tracy?

Updated October 22, 2026

Tracy builds and edits platform-based websites through conversation, with tools to review changes and recover supported work. Tracy is for website owners, content editors and agencies that manage websites.

What can I do with Tracy?

You can describe a website change in ordinary language and ask Tracy to make it on the site you are working on.

For example, ask Tracy to update the telephone number in the footer or revise a page’s text. The website remains a real WordPress, Joomla or EmDash site with its own administration interface.

The site roles are Owner, Editor and Viewer. Owners and Editors can edit the site; Viewers can inspect it, comment and ask read-only questions.

Which website platforms does Tracy support?

Tracy can build new WordPress, Joomla and EmDash sites, and import existing WordPress and Joomla sites.

Tracy starts new sites from a ready-made site or design. It does not support Shopify or arbitrary hand-coded websites, and existing EmDash sites cannot be imported.

To start:

  1. Open “Add site”.
  2. Choose “Create a new site” to build a new website, or “Import existing site” to bring in a supported existing website.
  3. For a new site, choose a platform and starting design, enter “Site address”, and select “Create site” when the form is complete.
  4. For an import, follow Import a site for the required access and connection steps.

If this does not work: Read the displayed message before trying again, and check your existing sites if Tracy cannot confirm that creation started.

Where does my website run?

New sites and imported copies run on Tracy-managed infrastructure and retain their platform’s administration interface.

You can continue to use the CMS admin alongside Tracy.

  1. Open “Site settings”.
  2. Select “Open admin” when the button is shown to open the site’s administration interface.

If this does not work: Check that you are opening the intended site and contact Tracy Discord if the admin remains inaccessible.

Does importing a site affect the original website?

Import creates a separate copy for editing, but connector setup can change the original site.

Automatic setup can install, update or activate the Claude Cowork connector on the original WordPress or Joomla site before copying its files and content. The connector is Tracy’s CMS integration, separate from Anthropic’s Cowork product.

After import, Tracy edits the hosted copy. Import does not replace the original site’s content or design or change its DNS.

If this does not work: Follow Import a site for connector checks and import recovery before starting the same import again.

Does Tracy ask before making changes?

Ordinary edits apply directly; Tracy asks for targeted confirmation before consequential actions.

Examples include removing content from public pages, changing a shared element across pages, or replacing a price. These checks do not guarantee that every risky change will be detected. Read the confirmation carefully before responding.

Review the actual website after an edit rather than treating Tracy’s reply as proof that the change succeeded. See Chatting with Tracy for how to send requests and respond to confirmations.

How do I review changes and recover earlier work?

Use “Site changes” to inspect recorded changes, and check the recovery options offered for the specific change or backup.

AI can make mistakes, and not every change can be undone.

  1. Open “Site changes” and inspect the relevant recorded request or event.
  2. Use “Diff” to inspect recorded file differences when available, and check the affected page on the website.
  3. Read the scope and warnings of any undo or restore action before confirming it.

On WordPress and Joomla, eligible recorded chat requests can be undone, but missing records or later edits can prevent an undo. EmDash does not support chat-request undo, and its admin history records pages and posts rather than menus, settings or media.

Restoring a usable full backup on WordPress or Joomla returns both files and the database to that point. EmDash content restore returns the database and media while leaving template code unchanged. A restore can remove content and other data saved after the selected point.

If this does not work: If an undo result is partial or unclear, check “Site changes” and the affected page before retrying. Read See what Tracy changed and Undo and backups for the limits of each option.
