This FAQ answers the most common questions about building, importing, editing, reviewing and undoing site changes with Tracy.
Each answer is short and links to a page with the full detail.
Getting started
What is Tracy?Tracy is an AI website builder and editor for WordPress, Joomla and EmDash sites. You can create a new site on these platforms, or import a copy of an existing WordPress or Joomla site. Ask for changes in your own language, review what changed, and use available undo options when needed; recovery depends on the action and platform.
How do I start?Sign in to Tracy and choose Add site. Pick Create a new site to start from a ready-made design, or Import existing site to bring in a copy of a WordPress or Joomla site you already run.
Do I need my own hosting? Not for a new site. Tracy hosts new sites at a Tracy address, so you can see a first version without hosting or a control panel.
Which language can I use to ask for changes?Your own language. Write requests the way you would write them to a colleague. Tracy answers in the language you write in, and the Tracy interface comes in eight languages: English, Vietnamese, German, Italian, French, Dutch, Chinese and Spanish.
Can my team comment on the page?Yes. In Edit mode, click any block on the page to comment on it. Choose Note for team to leave a note for the people on the site, or Ask Tracy to edit to send it to Tracy. Comments have replies and can be resolved, and the Comments tab lists them by page.
Does Tracy ask before it changes my site? Not for ordinary requests. Tracy makes the change and you review it afterwards, in Site changes and on the site itself. Tracy asks for targeted confirmation before consequential actions. If you want a plan first, say so in your request. See See what Tracy changed.
Supported platforms
Which platforms does Tracy support?WordPress, Joomla and EmDash. Tracy can build new sites on all three, and it can import copies of existing WordPress and Joomla sites.
Does Tracy support Shopify?Not yet.
Can Tracy work on a custom-coded website? No. Tracy works on sites that run on WordPress, Joomla or EmDash, with an admin panel. Custom-coded web applications are outside its scope.
Which Joomla version do new sites use?New Joomla sites that Tracy builds run on Joomla 6. Tracy does not offer a Joomla 3 upgrade path. See Tracy for Joomla.
Which JoomlArt templates can I use on WordPress?JA Kinetic, JA Vega, JA Nova, JA Morgan, JA Essence and JA Impact are available as WordPress starting points, next to Tracy’s own templates. Browse them on design inspirations.
How many designs can I start from?Tracy’s gallery has 150+ design directions. Design availability varies by platform, and Tracy tells you when a direction is not ready for the platform you chose. Browse them on design inspirations.
Importing a site
Does importing change my live site?Tracy creates a separate copy for editing while your original site keeps serving visitors. Automatic import installs, updates or activates Claude Cowork on the original site and reads its token; it does not replace the original content or design or change DNS.
What does Tracy need to import a site?Provide the WordPress or Joomla site address and either normal CMS admin credentials or a Claude Cowork token. For manual mode, copy Token from WordPress Settings > Claude Cowork, or Access token from Joomla Components > Tracy Claude Cowork. Use manual mode for two-factor sign-in; installation and endpoint access restrictions still apply. See Tracy for agencies for the full import flow, and Import a site for each import message and its fix.
Is there a size limit for imports?Yes. If a site is larger than one import can carry, Tracy stops and tells you, rather than importing part of it.
Site changes, Diff and backups
Where do I see what Tracy changed? In the Site changes tab. Recorded requests in the chat or in comments, edits in the CMS admin and changes the site makes on its own are listed with their available source and who made them. On WordPress and Joomla, recorded file changes open in a Diff. EmDash has no file history, and its CMS admin log covers page and post edits, not menus, settings or media. See Site changes and Diff.
Does every text edit appear in Site changes?Recorded text Tracy writes appears under the request that wrote it. Recorded edits made in the WordPress, Joomla or EmDash admin appear with the source CMS admin, without a before and after. EmDash records page and post edits, not menus, settings or media.
How do I undo one change? On WordPress and Joomla, for supported file changes, open the row’s menu in Site changes and choose “Undo file changes…”. For content Tracy wrote, choose “Ask Tracy to revert” on the row. Later edits can block Undo; EmDash has no request Undo. See undo and backups.
How do I go back to an earlier version of the site?Restore a backup from Site changes. On WordPress and Joomla, Restore files puts back the site’s files. Restore everything puts back the files and the database, and deletes anything saved after the backup. EmDash backups restore database and media, not template code, and delete anything saved after the backup. See Undo and backups.
Can Tracy break my site?A change can go wrong, as with any edit. Tracy makes recorded changes visible and provides recovery options: you can read available Diffs, undo a change where supported, ask Tracy to revert it, or restore a backup. Recovery depends on the action and platform; EmDash backups exclude template code, and external effects cannot be recalled.
Using Tracy during the beta
Is Tracy free during the beta?Tracy is in beta and free to use during the beta. Share feedback in the Tracy Discord: Tracy Discord.
What happens after the beta?Pricing after the beta is not set yet, and nothing switches to paid automatically. See Pricing.
Access and your data
Who can change my site in Tracy?Only people who hold a role on that site. Each site has its own team with three roles: Owner, Editor and Viewer. An Editor edits content such as articles and media, changes templates, extensions and settings, publishes and restores backups; a Viewer can view, comment and ask questions without editing; an Owner can also manage people and domains, make owners and delete the site.
Can I give a client access to only their own site?Yes. Access is per site. Invite the client to their site as an Editor or Viewer, and they do not see your other sites. Editors can also change code and settings, publish and restore backups; Viewers can view, comment and ask questions without editing. See Tracy for agencies.
Does Tracy keep my admin password when I import a site? No. When you give Tracy admin access, it signs in once to install Claude Cowork and never keeps your password.
Does someone I invite need a paid subscription during the beta? No. A person invited to a site signs in with the email the invitation was sent to and works on that site with the role you gave them.
Where is my site hosted?Sites that Tracy builds, and the copies it makes of imported sites, are hosted by Tracy at a Tracy address.
