Sign in to Tracy with your email address and a six-digit code, without a Tracy password. Signing in identifies your account; access to an existing site is a separate permission.
How do I sign in with an email code?
Enter your email address on the sign-in page, then verify the code sent to that address.
- On the sign-in page, enter your address in “Email address”.
- Select “Continue with email”.
- At “Check your email”, check the address shown and open the sign-in email for that address.
- Enter the six-digit code and select “Verify code”.
If this does not work: follow the code troubleshooting sections below, or select “Use a different address” if the address is incorrect.
How long does my code work, and can I reuse it?
A sign-in code works for 10 minutes, and requesting a new code replaces the previous code for that email address.
A successfully verified code cannot be reused.
- Use the code from the most recent sign-in email.
- If it has expired, select “Send a new code” and use the new code.
If this does not work: check that you are entering the code for the email address shown on the page.
What should I do if I do not receive a code?
Check the email address shown on the code page and check your Spam folder before requesting another code.
- If the address is wrong, select “Use a different address” and enter the correct address.
- Check Spam and mark the sign-in email as not spam if it is there.
- Select “Send a new code” if you still need a code, then use only the newest code.
If this does not work: share the error message through Tracy Discord; do not share your sign-in code.
Why does Tracy reject my code or ask me to try later?
Tracy rejects codes that are incorrect, expired, already used, or have reached the attempt limit, and limits how many codes can be requested.
“That code did not work.” can mean the code is incorrect, expired, replaced, already used, or has reached its attempt limit.
- Check the email address shown on the page and use the newest code.
- If necessary, select “Send a new code” rather than repeatedly guessing the same code.
- If you see “Too many sign-in codes were asked for. Try again later.”, wait before requesting another code.
- If you see “Could not send a code. Try again.”, try requesting a code again.
If this does not work: report the exact message through Tracy Discord, without including a sign-in code.
Can I use Google or GitHub instead of an email code?
Google and GitHub sign-in are supported when those providers are configured for the Tracy sign-in page.
Google sign-in requires a verified email address; GitHub sign-in requires a verified primary email address. The first provider sign-in links to a Tracy account by email, while an established provider link continues to identify its linked Tracy account.
If this does not work: use an email code, and check that you are signing in to the Tracy account that has access to your site.
Why is My Sites empty after I sign in?
Signing in does not automatically grant access to an existing site.
An existing site’s permissions use the roles Owner, Editor, and Viewer. A pending invitation does not grant access until it is accepted.
- Check your signed-in email address in “Settings” under “Account”.
- If you used a different address, sign out and sign in with the address that has site access.
- In “My Sites”, select “Accept” for the site’s invitation if one is waiting.
If this does not work: ask a site Owner to check your access for that email address.
Is Tracy free during the beta, and do I need an invitation?
Tracy is free during the beta.
You do not need a paid membership or an invitation to sign in to Tracy. An invitation to an existing site is separate from signing in to Tracy.
Try Tracy and share questions, problems, and feedback through Tracy Discord.
What does the beta full message mean?
The beta full message means Tracy cannot currently assign a workspace to a new account because capacity is full.
“Tracy’s beta is full right now” can appear after your email code is accepted, before Tracy creates a signed-in session. This is a capacity problem, rather than an incorrect-code message or a site’s permission decision.
If this does not work: try signing in again later, or ask about beta access through Tracy Discord.
How do I switch accounts or sign out?
Sign out and sign in with another email address to switch Tracy accounts.
- Open the account menu using your avatar at the bottom of the sidebar.
- Select “Settings”, then “Account”.
- Check the address under “Email” and select “Sign out”.
- Sign in with the other email address.
Signing out ends this browser session only and does not remove your site permissions. Session expiry can also require you to sign in again.
If this does not work: share the problem through Tracy Discord.
How do I reopen or skip Getting started?
Open Getting started from the account menu, or from Settings under Help & about.
- Open the account menu using your avatar at the bottom of the sidebar.
- Select “Getting started” if the menu shows it.
- Otherwise, select “Settings”, then “Help & about”, and select “Open” beside “Getting started”.
Within Getting started, “Continue” and “Back” move through setup, “Skip” closes it, and “Done” finishes it. “Hide from account menu” removes its menu entry while keeping the entry in “Help & about”.
If this does not work: share the missing option or error through Tracy Discord.
